Here lyes interred ye body of ye Hon'bl John Thacher Esq'r
who after a long life of usefulness and faithfulness
in several military and civil offices
& of eminent Exemplariness in ye religious christian life
departed this mortal life in ye faith of Christ
& his gospel and in hope of eternal life
March ye 26th 1764 in ye 90th year of his ageLet me die the death of the righteous
And let my last days be like this
