The partly buried fieldstone was located next to a granite fence post on the south boundary of the cemetery. In 2008 it was excavated and was moved about 35' directly in from the fence line. It now is positioned 9' southwest of the Samuel Hedge (d1714) headstone which is at Location 27 on the EHS survey map. Dimensions of the stone above ground are 12" W, 8" H, 9" D. There are no identifying markings.

The stone probably was a grave marker because there are no random fieldstones in Cove. The stone may not be positioned directly over an unmarked grave but it stands as a reminder that fieldstones mark graves in Cove.
