The gravestone displays a winged skull with full wings carved in the style of the Emmes carvers of Boston. The date of death on the gravestone is in question. Eastham records indicate that Edmond's wife Sarah and son Isaac were appointed administrators of his estate on February 25, 1717/18. Also a Freeman genealogy indicates Edmond died December 10, 1717.

Edmond Freeman is the son of John Freeman and Marcy (Prence) Freeman. Edmond married Sarah Mayo and they had eleven children.

HEADSTONE - 20" W, 25" H, 4" D

FOOTSTONE - none

CONDITION - lichen growth

COMMENTS - Headstone encased on back and edges with resin bonded fiberglass applied about 1977. Headstone cleaned October 2004. Fiberglass backing removed October 2008. Headstone cleaned with D/2 and reset October 2008.
