The footstone fragment in the bottom photo was found near the headstone in July 2000. It has no markings. The fragment matches the slate type of the headstone and probably belongs to Samuel Freeman. No footstone was found in the 1976 survey. The fragment was placed directly behind the headstone.
Researchers indicate Samuel had 12 children with Mary (Paine) Freeman 1770. Three of their children are buried in Cove with grave markers. They are Barnabas 1736, Marcy 1736 and James 1754. Three of their children are buried in Bridge Road Cemetery. They are Mary Freeman 1754, Abigail (Freeman) Atwood 1770 and Barnabas Freeman 1781.
