John Lewis 1796

full stone tympanum

In memory of
JOHN LEWIS
who died March 5th 1796
in the 40th Year of his age

Death is a debt to nature due
Which I have paid & so must you
My friends this is a waking call
For to be ready one & all
As you are now so once was I
Now you may see what mortal worms we be

A round winged skull with wings raised off the tympanum base ready to fly.
